Ski Resort Madonna di Campiglio

The 'pearl of Dolomites' - Madonna di Campiglio is located in the Valley Rendena between the Dolomites di Brenta and Adamello - Presanella Glaciers.
The pass, with connects  Rendena Valley with Val di Sole is believed to be crossed once by Charlemagne on the pursuit to Rome, the place where he was supposed to sleep overnight is named accordingly - Campo Carlo Magno.


The area below Campo Carlo Magno remain undeveloped until the end of 19th century, when the members of Austrian Royal family chose the small village Madonna di Campiglio for their holiday resort. Since the visits made by Princess Sissi and the Emperor Franz Josef Madonna witnessed dozens of famous heads of aristocracy and present celebrities, including Naomi Campbell with her husband Vladimir Doronin.
Michael Scumacher's presence on the Madonna slopes became so common, that finally one of the local downhill runs has been named after the famous driver.

The ski resort is located on the slopes of  Dolomiti di Brenta, the separate range of Dolomites located west of the motorway A22 Bolzano-Trident.
The downhill runs are located in the shade of the peak Cima Brenta ( 3 150 m ) and cover the slopes of Pradalago , Cima Grosté and Cinque Laghi.
The runs of Cinque Laghi area include 3-Tre, famous for hosting several Alpine World Cup competitions.
The resort is directly connected with the slopes of Folgarida-Marilleva in Val di Sole, while the neighbour village Pinzolo with its ski resort is only accessible by the free bus.
The skibus departures from Madonna also to several other places, namely Passo Tonale under the Alpine glaciers of Adamello and Presena.
